About

The title of this blog is, of course, aspirational.

I’ve been a seeker for several decades — somebody who pursues liberation as it’s understood in Indian traditions — and I’ve noticed a few things about the relationship between the mind and consciousness.

I thought it would be interesting to write down what I’ve noticed and see what comes out of the keyboard.

From my use of the phrase “relationship between the mind and consciousness”, if you’re up on this stuff, you can probably guess that I’m coming at this from the general perspective of Advaita Vedanta and Samkhya rather than Theravada or most other forms of Buddhism. In other words, my general hypothesis is that consciousness is distinct in some important way from minds and that it existed in some important way before nervous systems.

I’m not a scientist and I’ve read very little in relevant fields. In case I inadvertently give the impression that I think my ideas are novel, let me state clearly that I make no such claim. For the most part I don’t know what other people have said.

All posts are free and will remain that way. There’s no paid tier. Call me sentimental but I think information about liberation should be free.

You can write to me with comments on the bottoms of posts or email me at:

I’ve tried to disable as much of Substack’s annoying spam as I can. The one piece of it I’ve kept on purpose is a single subscribe button at the bottom of every post. The advantage of subscribing is that you’ll get notified by email each time I publish something new.
